SMART Goal 7: Strengthening Leadership Skills through Volunteer Roles in Event Management

I want to enhance my leadership skills to ensure that I am dependable and well prepared to take on the responsibilities of an event manager before to the start of my internship. To achieve this, I will volunteer for leadership or supervisory roles in at least three different organizations by June 9th, 2025. This experience will expose me to different organizations and management styles, allowing me to develop practical skills in managing people and projects effectively.

S – Specific

The goal focuses on developing leadership skills by actively taking on roles with responsibility in three separate volunteer positions within event related organizations. This provides a clear path for skill improvement. 

M – Measurable

Success will be measured by the completion of volunteer engagements in three different organizations where leadership or management responsibilities are assigned. Feedback from supervisors and reflections will further improve leadership growth.

A – Achievable

Given the availability of volunteer opportunities and my proactive approach to seeking roles with responsibility, this goal is realistically achievable within the set timeframe.

R – Relevant

This goal supports the development of professionalism by building essential leadership qualities such as decision-making, communication, accountability, and team management. Gaining experience in diverse organizational settings will enhance adaptability and confidence in managing events and people.

T – Time-bound

The goal is time-bound with a clear deadline of June 9th, 2025, ensuring in time completion of leadership experiences before the internship commences.
