Smart goal 3
INVESTIGATIVE ABILITY
Shows that you can do research. Start with a research question/problem (I want to gain more knowledge of the numbers in the Live Music market,I want to research jobs in the industry, etc.), then find the right research methods to go with it (desk research, field research, interviews, surveys, etc.) and start doing research, lastly review the results and come up with conclusions.
SMART Goal: Conducting market research to Evaluate the Potential of Solist Events
I want to investigate the market potential for Solist Events by conducting a research project. This will involve analyzing data from two researches/articles, surveying 25 target respondents. The primary objective is to identify popular event concepts and determine effective marketing strategies that can be applied to Solist Events. To deepen my understanding of the audience and event dynamics, I will also attend a minimum of two Solist Events. This research will be put in a detailed report, including at least two actionable recommendations for the organization. The entire project will be completed by May 31st, 2025, thereby demonstrating my capacity for thorough investigation and practical application.
S – Specific
The goal clearly defines the research scope: evaluating Solist Events’ market potential through data analysis, surveys, expert interviews, and direct observation by attending events.
M – Measurable
Success is measured by the completion of key research activities, analyzing two sources, surveying 25 participants, attending two events and lastly producing a final report with at least two actionable recommendations. These targets provide clear evidence of progress and accomplishment.
A – Achievable
The goal is achievable within the set timeframe and with available resources. I have access to relevant data sources, networks to recruit survey respondents and interviewees, and the opportunity to attend Solist Events, making the research plan realistic.
R – Relevant
This goal directly cultivates my investigative ability by requiring me to define a research problem, select and implement appropriate research methodologies (desk research, surveys, interviews, and field observation), analyze findings critically, and formulate evidence-based conclusions. These skills are essential for effective market research and decision-making within the events industry.
T – Time-bound
The project has a firm deadline: the research report will be finalized by May 31st, 2025. A structured timeline for completing each phase will ensure steady progress and timely delivery.
Disclaimer: The decision to work with Solist Events was made out of personal interest after setting SMART goals. This collaboration is solely to support the achievement of this goal and own interest in their events.
