Career Tools

Career tools are different workshops offered by students for students. They are meant to share network and knowledge with each other and professionaly develop in the event sector. Topics were chosen by students and it was mandatory to attend 5 workshops and organise 1 to further develop yourself in topic that you found interesting.

Reflection written by using Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle

In the last academic year I attended multiple career tools workshop that peaked my interest. This broadened my network and grew my event knowledge. each workshop thought me new things I attended the: event production, safety and security, AI tools, content creation, and website design workshops. I also co-organised a bar training session with Festisquad, this strengthened my skills in planning, communication, and leadership.

The workshop that thought me the most was the security and safety workshop, I learned how structured and layered event safety must be. We did that by simulating emergency communication lines and choosing essential crew roles for an event. I nor understand how responsibilities are divided and how emergencies are managed. This connected directly to my investigative skilss, as I had to analyse situations, assess risks, and understand how technology like CrowdCom influence decisions. The event production session with Gerwin Versluis I found the most fun and helped me understand the creative and logistical demands behind event layout planning. It showed the impact of small decisions on the guest experience and safety. Through an assigment, I enhanced my design thinking. The AI and website-building workshops were more technical and helped me explore things I had less experience with. I learned the importance of being clear when prompting in AI. Even though technical difficulties prevented me from building a website during the website building session, I left with the motivation to experiment independently. The photo/videographic workshop showed and improved my creative side and showed how visual media plays a key role in event promotion. Working in a team to develop a fashion-themed campaign helped me explore promotion creation even if the end result was not perfect, it encouraged me to value the process as much as the product.

lastly the bar training session that I organised showed my event planning and networking skills. Coordinating with an external company, managing communication, and solving last-minute issues (like language misunderstandings) demonstrated my ability to stay calm and solution focused. This experience made me more confident in taking initiative and showed that early planning and clear communication are crucial when working with stakeholders. During  all these sessions, I noticed my growth  from trying new things, even when the outcomes aren't always perfect. I’ve learned to value the process, face challenges and reflect critically on how each experience contributes to my personal and professional development.
