AI training

The AI workshop took place on Wednesday the 12th of february as part of career tools. It was presented by students who started of with an explanation of the basics of AI and tips. Such as look at blurry fingers and incorrect background details. It was mentioned that AI is more and more used in commercials whcih is also cost eficient. They also mentioned how you are able t use AI for simple uses such as recipes or netflix recommendations. We got assigned to try out different AI models like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and Deepseek. We got a piece of paper with prompts and were expected to put these into different AI models to be able to compare the responses and results.

I worked together with my classmate Kate, to try out the prompts we mainly used ChatGPT and Copilot because the other platforms were not working very well due to server overload from many users. We followed the steps on the worksheet and tested the outputs. ChatGPT gave the most impressive results, while Copilot was more reliable with source information. Overall none of the models were able to create pictures at that moment.

Although I did not gain new knowledge about AI during the session, I did learn about alternative AI tools besides ChatGPT. The practical activity of crafting prompts and comparing AI-generated answers was actually quite fun and showed how important it is  to have a clear message (prompt)

I would have liked a deeper explanation of AI concepts rather than focusing mainly on the assignment, especially since server issues mostly occur doing career tools for some reason. A more interactive activity like perhaps a kahoot might have been more informative for me. I still liked experimenting with prompt inputs and seeing AI create something out of that. This workshop gave me awareness of the variety of AI platforms available and showed me to formulate my prompts really clear.
